“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“—so long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
-Lewis Carrol
It can be difficult at times to know how to proceed forward. Sometimes we may feel lost, insecure, or overwhelmed. I believe anyone could benefit from the support of a counselor, whether for problems that seem large and insurmountable or for assistance navigating life’s smaller challenges. My personal approach to counseling takes an integrated perspective using person-centered theory, existential concepts, and systems theory. In practice, this means that I respect your autonomy and believe in helping you find your own unique purpose, meaning, and motivation for life. Additionally, I strongly believe that personal problems do not occur in a vacuum and that each person’s individual context must be considered for us to understand our challenges and make meaningful change.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Harding University (CACREP accredited). I have experience working with children, pre-teens, adolescents, and adults. I have worked with individuals and families struggling with depression, anxiety, relational issues, behavioral issues, trauma-related problems, and more. I am open and willing to work with you, even if you don’t see your current struggle listed under my experience. I also welcome the incorporation of spiritual values into counseling sessions if that is of importance to you.
