Adult Outpatient Groups
Our adult intensive outpatient group is a substance use/abuse counseling group focused on recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. This group's treatment includes education, process, and psychotherapy. Clinical approaches include motivational interviewing, relapse prevention (including Gorski’s model of relapse, recovery, and prevention), and parts of the Matrix Model. Our treatment is a comprehensive, evidenced-based program developed to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug use and to promote a greater understanding of substance use disorders through therapy, education and training. Our IOP meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Research shows that adolescents learn and implement the skills of DBT best when done as a family unit. We strive to provide the best services for our clientele and as such we have a mulit-family and adolescent group that meets on Saturday and learns the same skills as the adult DBT group plus one additional skill set called "the middle path" focusing on validation, understanding dialects and seeing things from another persons perspective. While these skills are learned best as a family unit we understand that sometimes the family is not able to attend and we wan to give every opportunity for our adolescents to learn these skills so we do offer a skills group for adolescents only, also on Saturday.
This group is so much more than teaching the skills necessary for social interactions and to reduce social anxiety now and later. It includes components of physical activities to demonstrate on an age appropriate level the connection between our bodies and our emotion and mental health and well as activities design to tap into children's creative side building mastery and self-esteem.
